>So exercise isn’t that popular, huh?

>One comment. Just one. That’s discouraging. Not that I need too much feedback, I appear to be able to entertain myself quite well, but I’m curious how you all feel about exercise. Am I preaching to the choir or is exercise really that bad?

  1. >I love exercise, Chloe! I'm having a very hard time getting motivated these days, though. I do play tennis 1-2 times a week, but I need to use the 'stuff' I have around my house every day. I have the Wii personal trainer–love it! But I haven't used it but once in the last 10 days or so. I have weights, balancing balls, etc. I have it all…just sitting. :o(I need motivation. I read your last blog post, and I KNOW exercise would help me. I'm dealing with some life frustrations, which are my excuse for not exercising.Wah wah wah. I know. Just do it, right?

  2. >Chloe, you crack me up. So, here's my delayed comment: I think you are spot-on, and I've lately been exercising and I do feel so much better when I do vs. when I don't. Sorry you are feeling unpopular today.

  3. >Its not "bad" for me, just really inconvenient. (How sad is that?) With five kids at home, I am up and showered before any of them early in the morning. I can't seem to find the motivation to get up earlier than 5 to exercise, and I can't seem to find the way to shower without the house falling down around me if I wait until after they get up. I have good intentions… unfortunately, they don't seem to do me a lot of good. Thanks for all your insight!

  4. >No – I just wasn't having a good technology day yesterday and figured trying to post comments may just cause several things to crash on my end. It is good (said in the best sticky sweet, dripping with sarcasm voice I can muster). It is vital to feeling decent (am learning this is one of those keys to my sanity). 🙂 Honestly? I think it does suck…but apparently that doesn't negate the necessity of it. Darn it. Good thing I have the ttapp basic memorized and that I'm a creature of habit because it's just part of the routine now.

  5. >I agree with your post (I just finished reading it). My exercise for the past 18 months has been running. Many times I dread getting out there, but once I do, I am always glad that I did.It has been so good for me to have something that is mine (I know that sounds selfish to some), but it's a great time to clear my head, focus on achieving a goal, and in the meantime know I am setting a good example for my girls. My dh is always very encouraging to me when I want to run. Recently we've begun running together, and that has been great, too. In addition, exercise strengthens all kinds of muscles. I've never been overweight, but exercising regularly has helped me become toned in many different areas. ;-)(momofthreecuties)

  6. >Nope, not popular at all, at least here. My doc is always telling me to walk more but doesn't seem interested that I tell him my knee hurts too much to walk much farther than my front door to the car. I actually was using a cane earlier this year when I had a really bad flare up with sciatica. Whine, whine, whine. Really, I know I need to be more active. But it hurts, it makes me tired. Whine, whine, whine. I know you're right, Chloe, I'm just tired. On a completely different not, glad to hear about Wolfie. Is there still a chance you'll be headed this way?Sharon in Wa

  7. >It's really that bad. I've always hated it, and now I know I need to exercise, but…a) when??? Not a morning person, hsing 3 kids, plus a 3yo at home.b) what??? Everything bores me. How many times can one watch T-Tapp Teresa before one loses one's mind??c) I'd rather read a book.Small Town Girl

  8. >I think people just don't comment. I get hundreds of views a week on my marriage blog and very few comments. I just keep talking though. And as for exercise, well I do that when I'm feeling good. If I'm in tons of fibro pain, I'm not going to be exercising.

  9. >Chloe, you are SO RIGHT about exercise. When I'm in shape, I feel emotionally healthy, too. Unfortunately, I'm not in very good shape right now because of my journey through cancer treatment. However, we joined the YMCA for our family just this week. Since Monday, I've been swimming twice (would've been a couple more times but was waiting for an expedited shipment containing "breast forms" to fit my swimsuit), one time was an hour of water aerobics, and I went for an orientation in the cardio/weight room this morning. I'm about beat because of being so out of shape, but I'm super excited to be back on the path to feeling good. And I have a goal…I'm cruising to the Caribbean with dh in January, and I want to be in shape to really have fun. Your post was confirmation that I am headed in the right direction. Thanks!

  10. >I'm late to this but I wanted to thank you–this is challenging for me. I've let myself go again and it's so hard to get back into the exercise groove. But I know deep down that everything goes better when I exercise–I'm a better wife, mother, housekeeper, everything is better when I exercise.Shortly after I first read your 8/16 post I found my fav Firm DVD. Now I need to just do it. I'm not going to think about the sore thigh muscles…It was funny, too, that in our Home Group for the Levitical Leaders (worship/ drama/ media stuff), one of our worship leaders felt led to tell us that God is calling us to be not only in spiritual shape but to get in shape physically, too. She felt like we'd soon be called on to serve and needed to be in shape for that. I don't need a billboard. 🙂

  11. >I love the "idea" of loving exercise.Reality – well – that's an ugly truth right there. I'm a lazy slug. But, with M going to school several blocks away, I'll have 2 opportunities 4 days a week to either walk or get on my bike. I'm optimistic about that.

  13. exercise???? it is something I *think* is important…I just don't schedule to time for it, so it doesn't get done. I need to put feet to my conviction, eh?
